Bringing
concepts to life
With over five years of multi-disciplinary design experience — including graphic design, illustration, web design, animation, and storyboarding
— I create visuals that bring ideas to life with clarity and creativity.
I have worked with the following clients: NatWest, T&P Group, Big Yellow Storage, WPP, Overclockers UK, Elior UK and Plus Group.

Whilst I was working at Overclockers UK, the website shows banners on most pages. And this task was to showcase the latest VR device from VIVE. I received a brief from the senior designer with copy and what product to showcase and to keep it in line with the overclockers style guide. I created this keeping in mind the brand guidelines and what overclockers generally like and they really liked this banner as it fit in perfectly.

This image here is a header image to sit along side the title on the NatWest website. I was given the brief for this task to create a suitable image to go with the copy and usually I send a range of options from illustrations, photography and object photography and they picked one of the illustration options as it felt cosy with the subject at hand as they want customers to invest so having an illustration that puts you at ease felt right for the imagery.

The NatWest client wanted to show the new card design on the website so I found a stock image the client really liked where the person was paying via card reader in store. I retouched the stock image to show the new NatWest card design over the top of the stock image credit card. The client was happy with this image and signed it off to be shown on the website.

Graphic Design
I have worked for various companies and clients in my time as a Graphic Designer. Every project starts with a brief, and I enjoy turning those ideas into something real. Sometimes I take a project from start to finish on my own, and other times I team up with other designers or animators. I enjoy both working on my own and with others, its always nice to share ideas and see what you can come up with.
I have added a selection of work in the slide deck to the left and if you click on the image you can see more info about the task and how it was created and the process.
Most of the pieces you'll see were made using the Adobe suite, but I always start with good old fashioned sketching. It helps me explore ideas, figure out what feels right, and then I bring it all to life digitally.
Illustration
Illustration has been a big part of both my professional work and my personal projects. I love bringing characters, environments, icons and all sorts of ideas to life. As a Graphic Designer I've created illustrations for newsletters, websites, social posts and posters. Outside of work, I've also illustrated for comics, graphic novels, social media, cards and more.
My process usually starts with a sketch. Once I'm happy with the idea, I take it into Photoshop or Illustrator to ink and colour it digitally (Also I can produce traditional art too, coloured pencils, inked, water-colours). If the client has brand guidelines, I always stick to them while still finding ways to create something fresh and engaging. And if the brief is more open, I like to explore what the client has in mind and offer a few different options so we can land on something that feels just right.
To the right, you'll find details about each illustration - just click any image to learn more about how it was created.

At my current company, T&P Group, we decided to put together an internal newsletter for the team working with the NatWest client. Since it was just for in-house staff and there were no brand guidelines to follow, I wanted to make something fun, colourful, and a bit different. We had various people contribute content, and I took care of the layout and all the illustrations. It was a really enjoyable project to work on, and it ended up being a big hit with the team.

This is the first page of my short graphic novel, Mending Time. I wrote the story, planned the layout through storyboards, and illustrated and coloured the entire piece myself. Every panel was drawn by hand, then inked and coloured in Adobe Photoshop. It was such a fun project to create—I really enjoy telling stories through visuals.

The NatWest website often needs to display a lot of information in a small space, and infographics are perfect for that. Designing one is a fun challenge—you have to find a clever way to fit all the content while still making it visually engaging for the customer. This particular infographic was really enjoyable to design, and the client was pleased with the final result. It was created specifically to be displayed on the NatWest website.

Storyboarding

My process usually starts with rough sketches on paper, then I take everything into Adobe Illustrator to create a clean digital version that fits the NatWest brand guidelines. Once the client has reviewed and approved the storyboard (and any tweaks have been made), it then moves into animation based on the final frames.
Outside of client work, I also create storyboards for my personal projects - everything from animation ideas to early layouts for comics and graphic novels I'm developing.
In my current role working with our client NatWest, I regularly put together storyboards for animations - either for myself to animate or for another designer on the team. These videos usually sit on the NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland websites and tend to highlight new features, like the recent virtual cards project.
UI Design
In my current role, I've had the opportunity to contribute to UI design projects for NatWest and T&P Group. I also worked on a
Big Yellow Storage design pitch, where I redesigned several sections of their website. On top of that, I've been involved in creating social content for platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook.
When I'm designing UI elements, I usually start by sketching out rough layouts on paper before moving everything into the digital space. I'm comfortable working in both Adobe XD and Figma.
I'm also developing my own UI projects in my spare time to keep my Figma skills sharp, especially as it's becoming the industry standard design program.

Animation & 3D
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Computer Character Animation from Teesside University, giving me a strong foundation in animation principles. Whilst their I used Autodesk Maya to animate and currently I'm learning Blender.
In my current role, I produce 2D animations/motion graphics in Adobe After Effects. I animate both my own illustrations and illustrations created by other designers, and I deliver polished animations and video content for the NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland websites.
Whilst at university I created 3D models for animation projects I worked on in Autodesk Maya. After uni I took those skills and put them to work whilst working at Plus Group and designed many exhibition stands using SketchUp and the Adobe suite.
